Compare Aurora with other AI note-takers
Side-by-side pages, one method: where the audio is processed, what works offline, which devices each covers, what each limits and costs, and when the other product is the better choice.

How does Aurora compare with other AI note-takers?
Aurora transcribes and summarizes on the iPhone, so the main difference from the note-takers compared here is where the audio goes: each of them transcribes in the cloud or on its AI providers. In return they cover things Aurora does not, such as Windows, Android, team workspaces, wearable recording or calls you don't attend, and each page names them. As of 26 October 2026 Aurora is iPhone only, in a private beta.
Which comparisons are there?
- Best Granola alternative for iPhone: Both skip the meeting bot. Granola streams audio to cloud transcription providers; Aurora transcribes on the iPhone.
- Best Plaud alternative for iPhone: A recorder you buy and a plan that meters minutes, against an app on the iPhone you already own.
- Best Otter alternative for iPhone: A cloud notetaker that joins your calls, against a phone that keeps the conversation on the device.
- Best Fireflies alternative for iPhone: A cloud notetaker that can join your calls or use a desktop app, against an app that keeps the speech pipeline on the phone.
- Best Fathom alternative for iPhone: A call-joining assistant against an app for in-person conversations.
- Best Apple Notes / Voice Memos alternative for iPhone: Built-in apps for notes and recordings, against a live transcript with speakers and a summary.

How are the comparisons made?
- Every competitor fact comes from that company's own pages, linked beside it and dated. Where a page does not say, the row says so instead of guessing.
- Each page names the cases where the other product is the better choice, and what Aurora cannot do.
- Aurora's own figures carry the device and the date they were measured on, and link to the method.
- A page changes only when a fact does, and its Updated date moves only then.
- Aurora's side is bounded to the speech pipeline. Aurora is local-first, not network-free, and the Privacy Notice lists every network path.
